CARNEGIE CRESCENT, CANBERRA

Carnegie Crescent is a contemporary family home defined by material contrast, landscape integration, and a strong central organising element.

Designed as a new-build over two levels, the project is structured around a swimming pool that acts as the focal point of the home. Rather than being treated as an adjunct, the pool is embedded within the planning, shaping the relationship between internal living spaces and the surrounding landscape.

The architecture is expressed through a deliberate interplay of materials. Exposed concrete provides a sense of solidity and permanence, while charred timber introduces warmth and texture. This contrast is balanced and controlled, allowing the home to feel both grounded and refined.

Landscape is integrated as a core component of the design. Hanging gardens soften the built form and create visual connections across levels, reinforcing the relationship between architecture and nature. These elements also contribute to privacy and environmental performance, enhancing the overall liveability of the home.

Internally, the layout supports clarity and flow, with living spaces oriented toward the central courtyard and pool. Openings are carefully positioned to draw light into the home while maintaining a sense of enclosure and retreat.

Carnegie Crescent reflects a considered approach to residential design, where materiality, landscape, and planning work together to create a cohesive and resolved architectural outcome.
