HAWKeN DRIVE, ST LUCIA
Hawken Drive is a large-scale residential project defined by its elevated position, expansive outlook, and a highly resolved approach to contemporary living.
Perched high in St Lucia with a prized north-facing aspect, the home is oriented to capture both river and city views. The design responds directly to this condition, with primary living spaces arranged to engage with the outlook while maintaining a strong sense of privacy and retreat.
The architecture is expressed through clarity of form and a disciplined material palette. Key elements, including a full-height stone fireplace and a sculptural Tasmanian oak stair, anchor the interior and introduce moments of scale and vertical connection within the home.
Planning is central to the project. A series of interconnected living zones allows the house to operate across multiple scales, supporting both large gatherings and more intimate daily use. These spaces extend to outdoor areas, where alfresco living is integrated with the landscape and pool, reinforcing a seamless relationship between inside and out.
A significant component of the brief involved the integration of specialised spaces, including a private cinema, wellness amenities, and multiple entertaining areas. These are embedded within the overall planning framework, ensuring the home remains cohesive rather than fragmented.
Materiality and detailing are handled with precision, balancing durability with refinement. Natural materials and controlled finishes create a consistent language throughout, allowing the scale of the home to feel resolved and considered.
Hawken Drive reflects a disciplined approach to high-end residential design, where complex briefs are resolved through clarity, proportion, and a strong connection to site.
