Today I’m sharing one of our favourite projects we’ve worked on - the renovation and extension of a traditional Queenslander cottage located in Brisbane’s leafy suburb of Red Hill.
When the owner purchased this Queenslander, it was almost original condition and very small - just a pokey two bedroom, one bathroom house that looked tired, but had great bones. The owner had a big vision to transform it into an expansive two-level family home - and we were thrilled to be the architect to interpret this vision and design her dream home.
Wanting to retain the quaint street appeal of the home (which is often lost when a house is raised), we opted to dig out at the back of the property, to create two levels. We also extended the living areas on the upper level and reformatted the entire house.
The end result of this home is spectacular. Upstairs, there’s the expansive and open plan living, dining and kitchen areas, which feature transom french doors that open onto a large balcony with view of Brisbane city. Upstairs also features three bedrooms and two bathrooms (including one ensuite). Downstairs there’s a guest room, laundry, bathroom, and double car garage with direct home entry. Words really don’t do this Queenslander renovation and extension justice - so take a look through the ‘before and after’ gallery below (or for the owner’s perspective on the job, check out our testimonials page). Special mention to Oliveaux Interiors for their interior design contributions!
